This five-week class teaches the basics of garment sewing. You will learn how to use a sewing machine, pick a pattern and the perfect fabric to go with it, cut the pattern and fabric, interpret pattern instructions, and sew the garment together.

You will choose from pre-selected beginner patterns and fabric the first night of class.

In addition to the basic sewing tools listed below, students will need:

• $30 to $50 for fabric and supplies 

Students need a working full-size sewing machine including cord, foot pedal, extra presser feet, bobbins, machine manual, and machine needles (Call or text the store if you need to borrow one for class) and the following sewing tools,. They are available for purchase at Sew Inviting individually or as a Beginner’s Sewing Kit. 
Basic sewing tools:

• Sewing scissors
• Tape measure
• Seam ripper
• 6” Seam gauge
• Straight pins and pin cushion
• Neutral colored thread

Class materials can be purchased at Sew Inviting. Students receive a 10% discount on day of class purchases.

Class space is reserved with full payment. This is a five week class and registration is for one student for all classes. Attending the first class is essential, it can not be rescheduled. Make up sessions ofthe remaining classes are at the discretion of the teacher and are not guaranteed.

Cancellation policy: Any cancellations will be refunded for store  credit minus a $25 processing fee. Within 72 hours of class starting there are no refunds.

Sew Inviting requires three students to hold a class. If three students are not registered five days before the class begins, you will be contacted to arrange a refund or reschedule to another class. 

Classes are held at Sew Inviting, 647 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN 55116. Parking is available behind and on the north side of the building.
