This five-week class teaches the basics of garment sewing. You will learn how to use a sewing machine, pick a pattern and the perfect fabric to go with it, cut the pattern and fabric, interpret pattern instructions, and sew the garment together.

You will choose from pre-selected beginner patterns and fabric the first night of class.

In addition to the basic sewing tools listed below, students will need:

• 1/2 yard of muslin or woven cotton fabric
• $30 to $50 for fabric and supplies (the pattern is included)

Basic sewing tools:
These are available for purchase at Sew Inviting individually or as a Beginner’s Sewing Kit.

• Working sewing machine including cord, foot pedal, bobbins, and machine needles (Call or text the store if you need to borrow one for class.)
• Sewing scissors
• Tape measure
• Seam ripper
• 6” Seam gauge
• Straight pins and pin cushion
• Hand sewing needles
• Neutral colored thread

Class space is reserved with full payment.

Classes are held at Sew Inviting, 647 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN 55116. Parking is available behind and on the north side of the building. There is a doorbell on the back door if the door is closed.

Cancellation policy: If your plans change and you cannot attend class, please call the store to cancel one week before class starts. Within one week of class, registration will be refunded for store credit.

Sew Inviting requires three students to hold a class. If three students are not registered five days before the class begins, you will be contacted to arrange a refund or reschedule to another class.
