We welcome home schooled students to learn or improve sewing skills and be creative with fabric.

This four-week class will teach students how to operate a sewing machine, sew by hand, and complete a few simple sewing projects.

Students need a working sewing machine including cord, foot pedal, bobbins, and machine needles (Call or text the store if you need to borrow one for class) and the following sewing tools. These are available for purchase at Sew Inviting individually or as a Beginner’s Sewing Kit.

Basic sewing tools needed for class:

• Seam ripper
• Straight pins 
• Erasable fabric pen or chalk marker
• Neutral or coordinating thread and bobbin

Basic sewing tools that are nice for class:

• Seam gauge
• Sewing scissors
• Tape measure
• Pin cushion

• Pillowcase – 3/4 yard of main fabric and 1/4 yard fabric for cuff
• Backpack – 1/2 yard of main fabric, 1/4 yard or fat quarter of contrasting fabric; 4 yards twill tape
• Zippered pouch – two fat quarters or two ¼ yard cuts of cotton, 14 inch coordinating zipper (one 1/4 yard can be the same fabric as the 1/4 yard of contrasting fabric from the backpack)
• 1/4 yard medium weight fusible interfacing

All supplies and fabric are available for purchase at Sew Inviting. Students receive a 15% discount on class supplies.

Class space is reserved with full payment. 

Classes are held at Sew Inviting, 647 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN 55116. Parking is available behind and on the north side of the building.

Cancellation policy: If your plans change and you cannot attend class, please call the store to cancel one week before class starts. Within one week of class, registration will be refunded for store credit.

Sew Inviting requires four students to hold a class. If four students are not registered five days before the class begins, you will be contacted to arrange a refund or reschedule to another class.
