Fitting is a process and we will show you where to start. We'll discuss pattern selection, what makes a good fit, and how to analyze your clothes. They we will move to hands-on assessment of your muslin mock up (the throw away test version of your garment) on your body. Elizabeth will show you the changes to make, how to transfer them to your pattern, and tips for repeating the process at home. This body-positive class will help you love the clothes you make!

Please bring three patterns you are interested in making and muslin to make your mock up to the first class.

In addition, students need a working full-size sewing machine including cord, foot pedal, extra presser feet, bobbins, machine manual, and machine needles (Call or text the store if you need to borrow one for class) and the following sewing tools. They are available for purchase at Sew Inviting individually or as a Beginner’s Sewing Kit. Students receive a 15% discount on class supplies.

Basic sewing tools:

• Sewing scissors
• Tape measure
• Seam ripper
• 6” Seam gauge
• Straight pins and pin cushion
• Neutral colored thread

Class space is reserved with full payment.

Classes are held at Sew Inviting, 647 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN 55116. Parking is available behind and on the north side of the building. There is a doorbell on the back door if the door is closed.

Cancellation policy: If your plans change and you cannot attend class, please call the store to cancel at least one week before class starts. Within one week prior to class class, registration will be refunded for store credit minus a $25 processing fee.

Sew Inviting requires three students to hold a class. If three students are not registered five days before the class begins, you will be contacted to arrange a refund or reschedule to another class.
