Fitting is a process and we will show you where to start. We'll discuss pattern selection, what makes a good fit, and how to analyze your clothes. They we will move to hands-on assessment of your muslin mock up (the throw away test version of your garment) on your body. Elizabeth will show you the changes to make, how to transfer them to your pattern, and tips for repeating the process at home. This body-positive class will help you love the clothes you make!

ALL sewing will be done outside of class.

For the first class, please bring three patterns for woven fabrics you are interested in making and muslin to make your mock up.

You will also need: 

• Notebook and pencil
• Clear tape

AND the following basic sewing tools. They are available for purchase at Sew Inviting individually or as a Beginner’s Sewing Kit. Students receive a 15% discount on class supplies.

Basic sewing tools:

• Sewing scissors
• Tape measure
• Seam ripper
• 6” Seam gauge
• Straight pins and pin cushion
• Neutral colored thread

Class space is reserved with full payment. Make up classes are not guaranteed, are at the discretion of the instructor, and will be considered if it is discussed before you a class is missed. 

Cancellation policy: If your plans change and you cannot attend class, please call the store to cancel at least one week before class starts. Within one week of class, registration will be refunded for store credit, minus a $25 processing fee. There are no refunds within 24 hours of the class starting.

Classes are held at Sew Inviting, 647 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN 55116. Parking is available behind and on the north side of the building or on the street.

Sew Inviting requires three students to hold a class. If three students are not registered five days before the class begins, you will be contacted to arrange a refund or reschedule to another class.
